Famous artist, Pablo Picasso once said "Good artists copy; great artists steal", which speaks volumes. Often times others will judge a person for "copying" a certain style or piece of work - often referred to as plagiarism. Sometimes this is the fact, sometimes a person will take someone else's work and claim it as their own, but I see no problem with looking for inspiration in another persons work. This is seen a lot through social media.
A popular topic among today's generation is the many different forms of social media and the impact of it. Social media has for sure changed the lives of many people, for the best and for the worst. I find the topic very interesting considering the fact that I am a young adult and am very involved with many different kinds of social media.
Some of my favorite social media apps include Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. I use these apps to interact and keep in contact with my friends. Along with keeping in contact with friends, I am able to keep myself entertained for hours with all of the content that is available on these apps. I find myself checking these three apps fairly often throughout my day, possibly too much. Some may say that I am addicted to these apps, and in a way I am, but for good reasons. I'm obsessed with finding new art forms, as well as new ways to further my creativity. In fact, a lot of the hobbies that I have picked up in recent years are stemmed from social media.
My blog is inspired by beauty related topics such as makeup/hair/skincare. I follow a lot of beauty influencers on social media to simply keep up with what they are doing or to find new products to try out for myself. Social media has helped me personally with loving myself, it is hard to accept your own flaws, but what helped me was seeing that I am not the only person with these flaws. Seeing other beautiful women who can live their lives happy and embracing their flaws then so can I! Some of my favorite body positive influencers include Ashley Graham, Tina Woods, and a blog/Instagram page ran by an anonymous user. You can find them on instagram at WeDefineBeauty. Or even submit your own photo here: http://definebeauty.org/participate.
When looking into the different functions of social media platforms, I realized there was a function that I did not even realize that I was using. Location-based narratives are location-based stories, the user is able to move freely in real time to collect pieces of the narrative. These are very similar to interactive games, with endless possibilities. Through many of the apps, they ask for the users permission to use their location. Therefore, as you post/upload your content to your social media page the location is tagged along with the post. One very popular app that is practically famous for location based narratives is Pokémon Go. Within the app the player has to travel within a certain radius of where they are to collect different pieces in order to advance within the game.
While I am not much of a “Gamer Girl’ myself, I have never really played Pokémon Go. I have been able to experience location-based narratives on snapchat though. One of the new features that snapchat has recently gotten are geofilters. Stores, businesses, hosts of parties, cities/towns, etc. are able to create geofilter customized to what they want to say. For example, if I go grocery shopping and I want to post that I am shopping then i can take the photo, and then apply the ‘Walmart’ geofilter. A user cannot find the geofilter from outside of the specific location they must be in the vicinity. The coolest part about this is that the other people that you interact with can have a peek into what you’re doing.
I highly recommend checking out the following apps, either for your entertainment purposes, or to

even create your own location-based narrative. There is so much room for creativity, and if your having trouble trying to figure out what kind of content to post browse around for inspiration!!
